I'm picking up my 650 ( Verizon) tomorrow afternoon. It is supposed to have the latest software already installed. I'll play with it and report back how it works in my '05 545.

... Back on topic
My Verizon Treo650 worked perfectly right out of the box without any additional updates (works much better than my Cingular Treo650 did).
(Current software version 16, Bluetooth was added after the fact, car is an 02/04 build).
I hope this helps.

I picked up my Verizon Treo 650 on Wednesday, replacing my Moto 710. The Treo paired with the car on the first try and has worked perfectly since.

One minor quibble is that the car doesn't display all of the phone book entries -- it only displays contacts assigned to the Favorites buttons. This isn't a big deal for me, since I have all of my frequently-called numbers assigned to buttons anyway.

The voice commands work fine as well. Audio quality is very good, about on par with the 710.

To open up the topic again. Last Friday I got my new E60 525 diesel with bluetooth.

I thought I have to share this with you.....

After pairing my Treo the phone worked very well, but no phonebook transferred. In preparation of working with the car and the Treo I filled up all my favorites with speed dials. Looking into the forum it seems that the car cannot sync more then around 12 favorites. I lowered my number of favorites to 5 and that worked. But it's not what I want, I want more number to transfer!!

How many favorites are you able of sync'ing?

So what I tried is something that's already discussed in the forums (and lead to rebooting treo's) is sending the phonebook to the car manually and guess what! That works! I now made a category "carkit" which I send to the car and that's what I see on iDrive.

It's not all that stable because this weekend I paired up my old Nokia 6310i and after that pairing and again trying the Treo, the address book of the Treo was gone, I once had a "hick-up" of iDrive and another time I had a reboot on the Treo, so it's not that stable!!! . I send the phonebook in the "i" section of iDrive, I select "phone" there and put the "selector" on the phone "TREO650", then send the category from the Palm.

I also have another question. When dialing a number from the iDrive phonebook and that line is busy, my Treo asks me if I want to redial or not. This happens on the Treo. Until you select a Yes or No on the Treo, the iDrive phone systems freezes. Does someone know if you can "tell" the Treo not to do this?

If this keeps on working like it is now (I can live with the redial issue) I'm gonna build in this Treo professionaly with a BMW standard near the dashboard and a SEIDIO cradle (for power). This phone is awesome! Next step is navigation on the phone (now testing) and company e-mail. Then it's really a smartphone!

Regards,

As for the GSM treo 650's in the US (Cingular ATT), if you have a branded one you need the update that came out months ago. These phones came out without the update to Bluetooth.

I have the unlocked GSM phone which I use with a Cingular SIM or a T-Mobile SIM. The unlocked GSM phone came out with the update to Bluetooth. It works right out of the box.

The paring works great with either the unlocked or the branded (cingular/t-mobile) once updated.

The update to the unbranded GSM treo that came out late last week does indicate that voice quality is to improve. I'm not sure if this includes the quality of voice through BT.

By chance do you have a url link to this update? I'm using a treo 650 with cingular service and am having difficulty getting a straight answer. Thanks
