I just tried the Blackberry 7290 on my 2005 545. Both systems recognized each other, but the BMW kept asking for the phone to be activated once I went to the Phone menu in Comunications.
Anyone know what this means. Should I return the phone?
What phone can I get, excluding BMW's phone, wich works with the BMW bluetooth?

The primary reason I waited to order an '05 was because of 1) BT and 2) the imminent arrival of the Treo 650.? Now my car is on the boat, and hopefully I'll be able to pick up the 650 not too long later.? I guess this is called "Just In Time" deliveries!? Just hope Verizon doesn't screw up the profile!

Hi, Treo 650 doesnot work properly with the BT BMW system!
PalmOne account manager showed me one this morning, a beta model he said.
We paired it to the system with a carkit link icon on the screen, easy as that.
But no .... no phonebook transfer, no dialing numbers from iDrive and that's most important for me.
Dialing from the Treo itself, the car waits for connection and then takes over the sound. Incoming voice calls, the same, you have to answer with the button on the Treo, then the car takes over the sound. Basic headset functionality.
Didnot have time enough to test manual phone book transfer, but as the Treo doesnot accept controls from iDrive I think that also won't work.
I also noticed that the Treo doesnot maintain its connection to the car, but only connects when there is a necessity (calling and answering). My Nokia maintains its connection all the tim.
Too bad, it's a very very very very nice device, good screen, nice small buttons, some sort of flash memory (so you can change batteries without loosing info).
Account manager said Palm sources are so open that someone (or PalmOne) will definitely program something to have this working.......
Bye
