1. So from what i read, all the 5 series come standard with the bluetooth tech? = no additional cost to have it installed?
2. Is Motorola E398 bluetooth compatible (for those who have it)?
3. At http://www.bmwusa.com/BmwExperience/BMWTec...uxury.htm?id=96 the slot fits perfectly with the phone, does this mean i have to notify the dealership what type of phone i have?
4. Can the phone be charged at the same time? Having the BT on all the time will surely drain the juice faster.
thanks

1. All '05's come standard with Bluetooth and it can be activated at no additional cost. Although I own an '04, the above has been made clear here before. '04's built 3/'04 or later should (not in 100% of the cases) have everything needed for it and would require possibly a s/w upgrade and 'coding' for Bluetooth.
2. Don't have it so can't comment other than to recommend you use our wonderful search feature.
3. What you're looking at is called an 'eject box' and they have it for some phones. Call your dealer's parts department and ask them if they have the E60 eject box for your phone. They will need the vin no. for your car. The eject box is not necessary for full bluetooth functionality; it just adds the convenience of tieing in to the shark fin antenna and for charging (see #4).
4. Yes, the phone can be charged at the same time, either through the eject box if they have one or through any of the car's 12V outlets (ash tray, etc.).
Good luck!

Any idea how much those "eject boxes" cost?

I would assume that the E398 will be compatible with the cars bluetooth system. The Razr and V551 work, so its a very high chance that the E398 will work as well.
By the way, nice phone. Not a very well known phone in the States but still nice. I owned it a few months ago but had to sell it since I switched to Cingular and the phone lacked 850.
