SMS Option in E60 - 2006

My Ride: E60 - 2006 (530i) Automatic --- Options: Professional Navigation, Voice Control, i-Drive, Blue Tooth enabled, Adaptive Lights, Active Steering, High Beam Assist, TV Function, Active Seats (Leather) with Airconditioning / Heating Option, Wooden Trim, Sports Package, Extended Aircon function, Anti Dazzle Rear & Side View Mirrors, BMW Assist, BMW Online Option, Dynamic Drive, Tyres: Option 123 - 245/40 R18 (RFT)
Hi, I have recently bought an E60 - 2006 (530i) with Professional Navigation and BT Options... I don't see the SMS Option in Communications menu 
. I was wondering if SMS option has to be bought as a separate option or is it dependent upon the phone being used. I am using a Sony Ericsson T630 with a phone cradle. Can anyone tell me what is the option number for SMS feature and does it include installation of any hardware or is it just a software upload???

Welcome -- not sure what country you're in (you should add your location to your profile) but in the US (and most likely other countries), SMS does not work with a BT connected phone.
It worked (receive only) on the hard-wired CPT9000...

Rudy is right, as allways. 
You have to use your cellphone for writing/sending SMS and you can only see/receive SMS via your idrive.

You said in the above post that you can see/ receive sms messages via i drive. Is this with all phones or only paritcular? I have a nokia 8800 and 6230i. cheers

The "see/receive" SMS feature only works with the hard-wired CPT9000.
