Can someone please tell me how your car's phonebook displays a specific contact with multiple numbers. I use a Nokia 6230- firmware 5.44

In my phone, I have contacts (say Xena) with office, mobile and home number stored. After sync'ing using BT with the car, the phonebook looks like Xena1, Xena2, Xena3. It is now difficult to identify the type of number I want to dial in my car for a given contact.

Any suggestions ? How does it look with your phone model ?

Same... looks like that.. .thats why i avoid using that... I save them as Xena Cell Xena Home Xena work and Xena Tree House.

I rather do that... then i can see it all at once when viewing teh phone book. I didnt like havign to enter Xena then hunt for her tree house number inside that.

Personal Prefernece.

Its bad news....that the car's addressbook does not store numbers the same way as in the phone.

Thanks for your suggestion . I was hoping that I wouldnt have to do this...but I guess now I have to

The BMW Bluetooth system synchronise with the mobile phone's SIM module which stores data in a simple structure of having a location no., a name and a telephone number. It is not the same with storing multiple phone numbers with one name stored in the phone's memory.

When I first had b/t installed, I too missed the convenience of choosing which number to dial from one name - but the other positive qualities of the b/t system outweigh the inconveniences.

Hi Olivin530

I am sorry to disagree with you ; this is a major issue for me  . I opt not to use the sync feature on my car BT because of that.
It turned to be unmanageable especially if you using PDA frequently like me.
I hope BMW will fix this in the future.

Same here with my Moto V550, except I'm lazy and only type Xena C (for cell), Xena H (home), etc...

It's quite frustrating because 18 months ago they could get a T610 to work fine, it would put (w) (m) (h) etc next to the numbers telling you what they were.

Clearly it's possible for this to work well with the bmw, it's hard to say who's at fault for all the incompatabilites but nokia and bmw need to knock their heads togeather.

My Moto E 815 allows me to store mulitple numbers for same contact and via an Icon states Home, Business & Mobile. I-drive shows the contact name 3 times and the 3 different phone numbers, granted it does not show the icon indicating which number is which but it does store the names alphabetically so I do not have to search for the "Tree House" number.

I guess this is not a huge issue with me because the majority of my contacts only have 1 number. If it becomes an an issue, then I can program my multiple number contacts individually in my Cell Phone as follows

BOB- Home 123-4567
Bob- Office 456-7890
Bob- Mobile 789-3651

and then this is the way it will be shown in I-Drive

Granted it is not perfect, but it works very well. I only keep around 50 contacts in my Cell Phone. I guess you guys that use PDA's and want your complete outlook contact list in your phone and car have a right to be frustrated.
