I have a late 03 build date on my 04 MY530. I didn't order the phone option because I thought bluetooth was up and coming. Now that I know I'm officially SOOL was wondering where the BMWassist phone install is located. I haven't been able to find a copy of the BMW WDS which I assume would show this (anyone with a copy?).
Anyways, My initial Idrive config (version???) used to show a phone selection under communications and would allow dialing a number but the call wouldn't collect. I assume this allowed the indwelling phone to be dialed but I didn't have service so it was useless. After a software update to fix the windows and the cd track issues this menu disappeared. Didn't think much of it at first.
Until one day, my radio muted and a incoming call showed up. I answered and a voice asked for "Bob". Without thinking I quickly informed them they had a wrong number and they immediately hung up. Then I realize someone was able to dial my car and I was able to pick up using the steering wheel buttons.
Two minutes later they called again. As I began asking what number they dialed (so I could use the phone for incoming calls) they quickly hung up.
Anyone else with a similar experience and does anyone know how to find out the number of the BMWassist phone?

Can't help, but that's a fantastic story.
I presume you can't dial out. Otherwise it would be easy to call another mobile phone and see what the number is.

Clears up a few questions, but raises a few more:
Never had a MIN/ESN number on a bluetooth card (no card) with the 12/04 delivery. How do I get this???
Also the question if charges ever passed through to the user if BMW questions all those 10 min. wrong number incoming calls. They probably don't log the calls though...
My BMWassist expired this month and in the process of renewing. Just sent it in probably to late to register it with Verizon even if I could find the ESN.
Oh well, just to have keep search'in or hope someone calls again.
Oh and by the way, I do search but after 3 pages of results and into August, I just gave up.
