Using an iPhone 3G with my 535xi -2008 -: If I am in my car and on a call and shut the car off and walk away, the call disconnects.
If I am on a call and get into my car and start it up, the call disconnects. Is there some setting like "maintain the call even if you shut the car off"? With my 740 it seamlessly maintained the call if I got in and started up the car while on a call. If I was on a call and shut off the car and got out it maintained the call.

Mine doesn't. When I shut off the engine while on the phone, I continually have a bluetooth connection through the speaker.
And when I start walking away and lose the signal of bluetooth I have a brief pausy moment while my iphone 3g switches to
internal speaker but the call never disconnects.
Basically, my phone is connected to car's bluetooth all the time as long as my car is not in sleep mode.

This is not how it should work. You may want to try deleting the phone and readding it. See if that does anything. I doubt you will get a ton of support from BMW if the iphone is not on the list of compatible phones. Not sure about that.

this kind of wondering me who are the software programmer in bmw is...
my 2005 e60 works perfectly and 2008 e60 model doesn't while the hardware
and the software are essentially remain the same...
why would they make it such complicated that some people works and some don't.
I just don't get it. I've so far owned Acura, Honda, Lexus, Ford and bmw and
bmw is the only maker that I had to get software updates whenever problem occurs.
Other cars I've owned are just straight hardware malfuction/swap with no software updates required.
Anyway, good luck to fix this bluetooth issue as it definitely not working as it should on your car.

Seriously, this happened to me a few times - pain in the a$$, yes, but I just try to avoid being on the phone during starts and parking - I should be minding the car at those times anyway, so I don't mind not being on the phone
