beg to differ at least the 8800 is a bit different and unique not like the billions of people that got their 6230 free!!!!!!!! software upgrade will sort this out anyway

Picked up my new 8800 today. I am nearly scared to try and connect it to the car. Say a Prayer for me that it works or the wife will have my balls for breakfast

Unless someone can tell me different I'm slightly disappointed to find that the phone system on the 5 series doesn't handle text messages but it did on my 3 series considering the 5 Series is a superior car to the 3 Series in most respects, I feel slightly short changed with the lack of this feature as text messages are part of everyday life.

I agree with you and they are the one piece that make using a mobile phone in the car lethal.

i have had same problems as everybody else with the phone conecting then disconecting. all i do each time i start the engine is to delete phone in i-drive then pair again with phone and it is fine. only takes a few seconds which is a small price to pay for such a cool phone

I have the same problem with the 8800 with disconnect and the necessity to reconnect every time you start the car. Have spoken to BMW who advise its not their problem and that Nokia should take responsibility and that they will not be making any further bluetooth code changes.

I have installed version 3.78 and it make no difference at all. Have contacted Nokia and they do not know of the problem so I have sent them a link to this forum.

Perhaps we should all return our bluetooth kits to BMW and get a refund? Also we should advise all future owners not to bother with BMW bluetooth if they want to have a phone thats less than 5 years old.

Anyone got the solution yet?

No I am afraid not. Still have the coolest phone and the coolest car unfortunately neither of them speak to each other. BMW couldnt give a damn nor could Nokia.
