Do you happen to know what version of software you are running? Will the car allow you to use the "save name" command?

Thanks Rhudy i am at 20.02 and in the help functions it does say something about the save name command but i have not used this or know how to, i thought it used the voice or name dialing function from the phone itself. Ready for your directions number one

Assuming you don't have navigation, I'm pretty sure that you have to "teach" your car the names/numbers for the voice activated phonebook. I don't have first hand experience with a non-nav car but I think you need to use the "Save Name" command first to teach the car the numbers that you want to use.

Here is a link to the phone instructions (take a look at .pdf page 17 under voice phone book):
http://www.e60.net/information/5_Series_Te...sers_Manual.pdf

If you have nav, there is no teaching needed. The car can "read" the names right from your phonebook and it uses some sort of text-to-speech algorithm to figure out how the names are pronounced...

I'm pretty sure you need pro-nav since I think you need the CCC for it to work that way...

Hi guys,

I have business nav and my bluetooth system is able to "teach" the names via the numbers/save name procedure and phonebook is working perfect, but every time I turn off the key and then turn it on, the stored names are lost and the system tells me that phonebook is empty. I've try it five times, but always with the same effect.

Can anyone help me? ...Rudy?

Not sure what to say -- I don't know how the phonebook data is stored (NVRAM or something else) but obviously something isn't right with your car. Hopefully the dealer or someone else here can figure this one out...
