Thumbs down

Dear Forum Members:

Nalley BMW Parts tells me I can no longer buy a cell phone to use in my new 2004 530i Idrive, because the BMW cell phone kits have been discontinue for the earlier models i.e. my 2004!

QUESTION: Is there any truth to this, and if so where can I purchase the cradle and cell phone to be fully compatible with my i drive?

Sincerely,

R. Eddie Presley a/k/a Presley348

Are u talking about the old CPT9000 (Motorola v60)? If so, then I believe the answer is yes, BMW has discontinued those. However, u should be able to find themn for sale on BMW forums. At least one member had one for sale here for awhile. Also some are considering converting their CPT systems to bluetooth and that would make more available.

And u can try ebay as well.

I already have a v60 phone, but the parts man says it is not BMW? Also he said they have been chamges made to my iDrive since I bought my 530i a year ago. I ask him what kind of changes and he did not go into it, (I wonder if he knew??) anyway thanks for your info. and any other advice you might have...

I'm not entirely sure but I think they discontinued the CPT9000 option for newer cars (since BT is preferred) but for your 2004, you should be able to still get one to work.

One of these days I'm going to unload my CPT9000 but only after I can find a suitable charging cradle for a Nokia BT phone.

You should be cautious here.

I have a 04 March production 530 and attempted to install a crade for my phone. The parts department were telling my service advisor that cradles do not work in 04 cars. Service department tried for four days to get cradle to work. Nada. Fried several adaptors and cradles in the process of trying to get them to work.

Wiring in 04 cars (up to September 04 production I believe) is not compatible with BMW cradles. Only CPT 9000 cradles work.

There is a SB out on this IIRC.

Good to know and thanks for posting that.

Does anyone know if they ever released the Nokia 6230 cradle in the US? I've been waiting to hear something in another (buried) thread.

(Sorry for the little hijack there Raymond...)
