I have a 2004 530i and a Moto RAZR

Bluetooth enables and pairs the RAZR, downloads the address book, makes the call, I can hear the other party trough the car speakers but the mic is always on mute...he can't hear me.

The mic seems to be working fine since voice commands are accepted. The mute button is off on the phone and also on the car...Any ideas?

There are two microphones, one for the phone and one for the voice recognition system. Did you have BT retrofitted to this car? I'm thinking that you may not have the phone microphone installed or there's something wrong with the one you have...

Danthenman,

Did you figure out what the problem is or was? I had the BTUM installed in my car and I have the same problem.
I fairly sure I have both the Voice Command Mic and the Phone Mic as I have been able to talk to BMW Assist.

What did you end up dong to fix the problem?

Thanks

100% software issue. They reloaded the software update. Working great now. Nothing wrong with the 2 Mics. Took 1.5 days at the dealer for them to figure it out. Scary when you see 15.000$ Nissan's Sentra coming out with standard WORKING bluetooth link. Anyway I'm happy now ! Good luck!

Rudy, That PDF download is interesting. On my E60 there is only one mic (on the drivers side) in this unit (easy to pull down to check). My set-up does work, but I have to lean into the centre of the car and speak quite loud for the other person not to complain about me being quiet. The car is not new to me so I don't know whether it had Blue Tooth fitted from the outset or added later. With the phone contained within the arm-rest it must be the roof mic which is picking me up.

Would UK spec cars have a different mic set-up than US ? Seems a bit odd...

Ian.

Does your car have voice control? If it doesn't, it could be that you only have one mic because that's all you need...
