So I'm pulling up to the drive through while on a conference call via the BT link on my 06 525. Then it hits me, there's no obvious way to mute the microphone so that everyone doesn't hear my lunch order.

Short of transferring the call back to the handset and then muting isn't there a way to mute the microphone while on a call?

I just hit the radio button to mute (just like any other call). I think you can also program one of the steering wheel buttons to mute.

My problem is that no one can here me at all...

I thought that will mute the speakers and not the actual mic. i.e. you won't be able to hear people but people will be able to hear you.
I too have to annouce myself at 3 security stops during my visit to the office and if I have a conference call on at the time everyone hears me do that!
I'd asked a similar question http://forums.e60.net/index.php?showtopic=22616&hl= a while ago but nothing helped even then

To my knowledge the BMW BT system cannot do this.
I use the MUTE function on my phone to do this, this button is easy accessible on my BlackBerry.
I understand that it's difficult to do that when the phone is in its cradle or the MUTE option is hidden in phone menus.

I don't think muting the speakers will do the trick - I will feel really stupid if that's the solution (as I then didn't try that before! ).

Thanks... I found that my cell phone (LG VX8300) has a "soft key" that is programmed to mute/unmute, so I will just use that. I tested it yesterday, and it worked fine.

Did no one read the link I posted. There is no Mic Mute function on the iDrive which is why I had to build one.

Hey Bruce, I read it. You put a lot of effort into your solution. I'm very impressed - you have many more skills and much more creativity than I do. I could not tackle such a project on my own. Thanks for sharing...

There is a Mute button, the left soft key while in a call, with the new Verizon softwares.
