Did it affect how the voice activated dialing works?

Geez, Rudy. That is a great question. I see your "8700c uploads all entries (except fax) for each contact beautifully" and those who have the Motorola Q are happy with the multiple contacts now, but I don't see where anyone posting about voice recognition.

How does your phone and others take that command? I'll be happy to test, but I would be surprised if the CCC prompted me for "Which number?"

What I can tell you is that Verizon has added the Phone Book Access Profile (PBAP) to the newer firmware. This profile allows exchange of Phone Book Objects between devices. It is likely to be used between a car kit and a mobile phone to allow the car kit to display the name of the incoming caller. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bluetooth_profile

Has any phone/ CIP gotten SMS working in the USA yet? I would be happy to get the latest upgrade if that is happening yet, for sure.

Yes, it made all of the difference today. Not in slow driving, but on the highway.

So what difference are you referring to? Are you able to get voice command to work or not? When you say a name and it reads it back to you, does the car pronounce the (M) or (H) in some way?

On my car, I rarely use voice command for phone entries but when I do, I usually don't have great luck. On the Blackberry, the contacts transfer with more than just a letter for home, work, mobile, etc. My entries show the entire word (like "mobile") and when the car reads back an entry for John Smith's cell phone, it says "Smith John mobile". Because of this, I assume I must say it the same way when I'm trying to get things to work...

It's the same way w/ my iPhone. You have to say John Smith mobile but it works well for me. Where does get a little silly is with my home number, which is simply entered as Home, so I have to say "dial Home Home" to call home!

The difference is in the voice quality and the distinction between multiple contacts on the I-Drive. No, the car does not prompt for "Which number"?
