Just got mine updated with Bluetooth today. It took a few hours, but the phonebook finally transferred. It's a new phone with one name in it, so I think it must either be a really slow data transfer rate, or some pre-determined interval.

I was convinced it wasn't working, but a couple of hours later, there it was. I'm using a Motorola V551.

I think its on an interval basis and the connection needs to be idle. That means you shouldn't be making calls or be in the phone screen. Load up the phone with your top 30 contacts and go for a short drive. 20 minutes. They will all be there.

Advise, mark your contacts as John Cell or John Work. This will help voice commands search for the number you want to dial.

Doesn't seem like you have NAV.? I am not sure how different the voice commands for non NAV cars are.? Maybe thats one of the limitations.
Look on the information page of this site and download the list of voice commands.? They all seem to work for me.
I do not have NAV in my car. I downloaded the commands, and only seems like some of the phone commands will work. I still can not dial by name, it tells me that the phonebook is empty

You will be able to dial by name, if you firs use voice command "Save name" and save the name and number. That is the disadvantage for us without NAV

Thank you, that worked.

I am guessing that there are two phone books then? The one that transfers to the iDrive from the cell phone and then the phonebook that I create by doing the save name (and number), which does not display in the iDrive. Correct?

Thanks ....

I believe you are right Arno. Voice command has one phonebook and iDrive has another one.
