I would wait for the iphone2 release.

Just about every publication has been writing negative articles about the new iphone. Their saying not enough memory, low battery life, bad for business users, inability to sync with corporate email, no 3g capabilities, no java, rabid e-mailers or texters will not like keyboard-free design, no removable battery, no expansion slot, no built in GPS, and many more.

Not to mention AT&T/Cingular doesn't exactly have the best track record.

been with ATT/Cingular for years and no complaint to speak of. Why do you mean by "doesnt exactly have the best track record"?

Well I was with AT&T/Cingular for two years, not happy with service. I had dropped calls, no service in buildings and at home. To make a call I had to go outside to get a good signal and it wasn't the phone, I tried 3 different phones. Plus their customer service is horrible, you will wait on hold forever and then speak to someone that can't help you. I now have Tmobile and I love it. Have had Tmobile since beginning of the year, not one dropped call yet. Tmobile award winning customer service is the best, no doubt.

You're both wrong Verizon is the best!

Did I mention I have a love/hate relationship with my Moto Q?

I have been a verizon customer at one time, I have nothing bad to say about them. Just was stating Cingular is horrible.

Verizon call quality/reception has been reported as the best.

Tmobile customer service has been reported as the best and so far my phone reception has been perfect. Cross my fingers.

And yet.... The thing will fly off the shelves. Go back and look at the negative press the iPod got upon its initial release. It's now sold over 100 million units. As for your "just about every publication" observation - that's just bullshit. You'll find way more positive press - if you choose to look.

As for the links you posted:
  • At least one - in the first sentence - positions itself as a counterpoint to all the positive coverage (never mind the fact that it's close to six month old...)
  • The TUAW link is from an Apple weblog and isn't even a negative article.
  • The Jud Stephenson blog is very obviously satirical, and was posted on April Fool's Day (it's pretty funny)
  • The Switched link was from 6/26 - before any reviews were in. Here's a more recent post - also from Switched...
  • The Intomobile page you posted - is from the middle of March. Before anyone outside Apple had any meaningful time with the product.
  • The date of the Cnet blog you dug up? Jan 11.

Looks like I struck a nerve. Just saying wait and buy the iphone2 or later. Get bugs worked out. Plus I do believe the later ipod versions kill the original.

People that are rabid e-mailers or texters will not like keyboard-free design.
It is not a good solution for business users, which make up almost all of the segment of pda/smarphone users.
This thing will not even come close to ipod unit sales, no chance.

Two probs. I hope they address:
Whats with the non-removable battery, thats a crock. On long business trips I always carry an additional battery with my Blackberry which has identical talk time.

Add expansion slot, or just more memory in general.

Article from Forbes (06.11.07), is that big enough publication for you bud:

I'm not sure that posting another older article, this one dated June 11th, which also raised a number of what ultimately turned out to be moot points (e.g. the AT&T call and data plans, ability to create third party applications), provides much support for your arguments.

I knew it was a matter of time before you chimed in again. As I stated twice before, just wait for the later version of the iphone. Greater things are to come. They should address a number of the issues.

Forbes article from June is too old, it is June you know.
