iPhone 5 Works!
I have a 2006 525i and the stock BMW iPod adapter. I just received my lightning to 30-pin adapter and my iPhone 5 plays just as well if not better than before. All my playlists show just as before, charging works with my charge converter. No problems. One benefit, the connected converter cable makes it so the BMW doesn't change immediately off the the playlist screen so you can reconnect the iphone without having to navigate back to disk one. Hopefully this helps.

So I got the iPhone 5 and the lighting to 30 pin cable, it worked, but not right out of the box.
I have to restore it from a previous backup and all is good!

Thanks for sharing this info. I got one question, could you connect your iPhone 5 to BMW via Bluetooth? I tried every possible way, still out of luck....
Yes I have my iPhone 5 paired in iDrive.
Just delete whatever you have previously paired and start again. Follow the on screen instructions, it will ask you to set the password, enter it on the phone and you're set.

Hello, Which charge converter are you using? I've looked at a few but haven't decided which to buy yet. With my old iPod nano w/ 30 pin connector the battery would last a week if not more so I never really needed one. With the new iPod nano w/ lightening connector and adapter (2005 545i) the battery last 1 day if I am lucky. It seems like the 30 pin powered down or somehow triggered the iPod to shutdown when the car was off. The iPod w/ lightening must just keep on playing or doesn't sleep even when the car is off. I thought at first my new iPod was defective but outside the car the battery is totally normal. So, possibly now I need a charge converter or just stick with the old 30 pin nano in the car.
