My Ride: 525d LCI - xenon, tv function, grey dakota leather, titanium silver,244 radial spokes.
I got the bluetooth installed in my car 2 months back. At times when I start the car the iDrive feezes. The main menu screen is displayed but I can't access any funcation. The date and time are displayed with --/--/---- (dashes). However if i insert a cd it displays CD1-01 on the bottom left, even the FM station name is displayed but no sound.
After about 10 minutes the screen goes blank and iDrive reboots to work normally(date, time memory is back to normal too).
My car is due for service this week, please advice what i should instruct the SA to do for this fix??? I'm sure the only solution he would come up with is a software upgrade unless I am already running the latest update.
PS: Prior to the bluetooth installation, my iDrive never hung for over a year !

Sounds like a software issue to me, the good thing is it happens at startup so it can be repeated easily for the dealer to see. Good luck!

I'd say faulty Bluetooth module or mismatch in software between the Bluetooth module and the iDrive.
Try unplugging the Bluetooth module (it may stop the CD player working whilst it's unplugged). The Bluetooth, Nav and CD are all part of the medial system so they're all on the same databus.
I had a Bluetooth module fail and it caused the iDrive to freeze.

Doesn't seem like a software issue as I sent the car in last week for an update.
The same issue came up once again yesterday, will send in the car tomorrow once again.
Will ask then to check the Bluetooth module, any other suggestions?
