When my phone is connected to the car via bluetooth, about 7 out of 10 times the phone icon (bottom right corner) on the IDrive screen does not appear. And the signal strength indicator always show no signal. Did that happen to anyone else? Or is it just my car?
Also, sometimes when I get into the car, the bluetooth does not connect with the phone for as long as 5 minutes. Is there a way to "make" the car to discover the phone right away? This problem annoys me when I want to make a phone call soon after I got into the car.

I find that it can take several minutes for my phone to pair with the car when I power the phone up after the car is running. Pairing when turning the car on with the phone already powered up takes 15 to 20 seconds.

I have a Nokia 6230 and it gets connected right away. Could it be due to the phone and its firmware and not necessarily the car's BT hardware that slows the recognition process.

First, the icon on the bottom right corner sometimes appear no matter if there's a missed call or anything. Don't know why?
I use a Sony Ericsson P910i phone. Sometime the damn phone even couldn't pair with the system if I switch on the phone after the car is started. But it works very well with my bluetooth headset before, they paired up as soon as they are switched on.

It's stories like this that are making me cling to my current phone - the thing works great! Mot V600.

I had a P900 - didn?t work with my E61. BMW states that the P910 is NOT recommended and has only limited functions. I switched to a Nokia 6230i - no probs ( except no SMS, but that?s due to the SA633 bluetooth, no phone can do that  ).
