This advisory is posted at VZW, "*The DROID ERIS by HTC supports Bluetooth Profiles for wireless headsets, hands?free accessories, stereo and phonebook access. It does not support all object exchange (OBEX) profiles." The way I read that is this phone may not transfer it's phone book. I'm interested in getting out of my Samsung Omnia and the HTC's get good reviews.
Who has experience with the new "droid" cell phones as it relates to pairing with our cars?

A brief review of the list suggests plenty of work to do! Refers to contact transfer as to be fixed in next release Jan 22nd 2010.

I have the new droid and it pairs fine with my car all the contacts are downloaded and can make voice activated calls from the steering wheel button

I can second this. I have the Eris and it paired quickly and easily with my '06 550 and pulls in all my contacts info.
I've got to chat with my friends at Verizon about my Omnia ... it's failing again (this will make 3 phone replacement in 7 months). I'm experiencing the problems reported in several smartphone forums. Soooo I'm probably going to arm wrestle for one of the HTCs. They seem to have better reviews. Wanted to be sure I wasn't going from bad to worse in my quest for a better device!

Is anyone using the Motorola Droid?
I'm reading about BT issues and hands-free dialing with that phone and am concerned about BT Contact Transfer to the car and subsequent dialing via iDrive!
The MOTO seems to be the currently preferred DROID phone from Verizon but BT issues would be a show stopper for me.

Paired up the Verizon MOTO DROID with the E60 today. Paired perfectly and all 359 contacts trasferred and with no issues.
Thx for the PM ...
I may have a go with the MOTO after I see what VXZ is going to do (i.e. what it's going to cost me $$$) to replace my Omnia; Had it 8 months, it's failed & been replaced 2x [on-phone power supply failed, then firmware corruption, and now it goes into hibernation but won't wake up without a soft-reboot]
I've had Motorola cell phones exclusively since Verizon was BAMS ... this Omnia was the first departure and boy was it a bad experience! So maybe going back to MOTO is the way to fly
