I feel retarded asking this but why do people also say "MY2004" what does the "MY" stand for?

Unfortunately your Ride is not listed in your profile either.? Do you have a MY2004 or MY2005?? ? I am assuming a MY2004.

Mark, thanks for clarifying when the nav came installed from the factory. That throws a wrench in my theory. Hopefully someone will come up with a solution for pre march 04 builds.
I have not heard of anyone removing assist in an E60. I know that owners of E39's were able to remove the tcu and add a new bluetooth unit. I was told that the wiring was different so it would not work in the E60. Maybe someone will come up with an adaptor that will allow the bt unit to plug into the E60 wiring.

I have a Feb 2004 production with the Nav (one of the first in the Chicago area with Heads-up display as well).
I received the 13.3 upgrade last week and am experiencing the problem mentioned in moballa's post regarding the TCU. I can successfully pair a Motorola V3 RAZR and dial and receive calls but there are two (fundamental show-stopping) problems:
1. The speaker does not work (I can hear them, they can't hear me)
2. The phone will not sync the address book
Going in tomorrow for a new TCU but based on Moballa's post this will most likely not solve the problem. I'll let you know on Wednesday...

Looking forward to hearing your results!
One thing my technician didn't try was actually plugging the old harness into a new TCU. Maybe, (and that's a big maybe), the connectors can still mate together and that extra pin on the new TCU is for something completely different and not needed by BT. Again, that's a big maybe!
I'll keep my fingers crossed waiting until you post your results!

guys, i have a production 04/04 and came back from the dealer today. they said bt can only be done on production 09/04 or later . my service advisor told me the service bulletin number i gave him (841304) clearly stated that. i told him i have a bluetooth passkey card in my trunk w/the manual and if it can't be done for pre-09/04 cars, why would i have that passkey card ? he couldn't answer my question. now i'm a little confused . is he correct or i should call bmwna on my own and have them figure this out? please help guys . thanks in advance .
