I had the same problem when using the installer app with the older firmware 1.1.2. After a while, I then upgraded my firmware to 2.1 and only download from Cydia which is basicly the new installer, but is much more stable than the installer apps. If you want to use more stable third party apps use Cydia. There is a tool out called quick pwn. It is used for the jailbreaking which allows for third party apps, and the quick pwn tool also gives option to unlock as well. The unlocking allows for different carriers such as T-Mobile. If you want the link for all needed files and software for the 2.1 or 2.2, then PM me and I will link you.
I'm looking for a software that can install 3rd party apps manually w/o the use of the internet. Besides the Iphone PC Suite currently in beta testing, can anyone recommend such tool?

Hey, I tried following the step by step from ziphone, but when I did mine its taking a long time and I stop it twice and had to restore my phone twice too, does it really take a long time? because when I watch the youtube step by step, they did it in like 4 mins. please help! thanks.

I decided to jailbreak my iphone 3g and boy, its great! the new themes, apps, and other extra features. Editing the files and changing around the "Text messaging" sound.
What video recorder do you guys use? Any really good ones that you don't have to pay for? and VLC player is great. I use it for my PC's and now use it for the iphone to watch some movies. Awesome.

Beware people, apple will brick your iphone if you try and update it and its been jailbroken.
