Upgrade is scheduled for Monday morning. My dealer had to clear this upgrade with BMW to confirm that it will work with my car. BMW checks the VIN Number to see if car can be upgraded. Apparently the car must be a March 04 Build or later. My e60 was built in May 04. Before the upgrade one must sign some kind of legal agreement with BMW. My dealer claims that it is a software only upgrade which includes disabling BMW Assist. Apparently it takes several hours. They have a list of seven phones that will work with the car. Fortunately my Motorola V600 will work.
I am also getting a hard wired laser reflector and radar detector system installed at the same time.

just cautiously curious, how are you the ONLY person in America to get BT on an '04 5-series.
I am no trying to be rude, but seriously, every person and there mother is trying to get BT for the 2004 E60... is this something brand new..
quite honestly, I know for a fact that 2004 X5's, older E39s, etc can have Assist disabled, but this is the very first time someone is mentioning disabling assist for the e60...
Believe me, I hope you report back monday night that it is the best thing since sliced bread... until then, I guess I will have a Looooooong weekend waiting for the good news.
By the way, what's the cost? and can you let us know what part #'s are being used?

he's the first I've heard actually getting it done, but my dealer told me the same thing 2 months ago about it being available soon, but I'd have to have my BMW Assist disabled. This is the first I've heard about it having to be a Mar 04 or later build though...

quite honestly, I think the dealers are confused.. about that time is when BMWNA authorized the disabling of Assist to allow for the Bluetooth module (ULF).. However, it didn't then apply to the E60, nor do I think it does today. Specifically, I don't think I-Drive can handle it

My dealership probably set up the appointment becasue I call them twice a week to ask about it. They just want me to go away. I will get as much information as I can including a list of working phones. I hope that this works. I'll know on Monday. I will do a thorough post, if it works. If doesn't work, I will let everyone here know. Then I will be too embarassed to come back to this board. I will go back to matching wits with JamesS3 at RF.

Can you share any more details about your hard wired laser reflector and radar detector system? ?
Do you use a Valentine one

Escort Passport SR7 and Escort Shifter ZR3. I am not 100 percent sure yet. I like this because it can all be concealed. I like the Valentine 1 but I am concerned that someone will break into my car here in Chicago to steal it.
