When my car was brought in for emissions recall, they updated my software, which then caused the microphone to not work, so they said they will hold the car longer because they will change module due to that... what module will they be changing? very curious....

The dealer is likely replacing your CCC (with NAV) or M-ASK (wo NAV) unit. That is the main iDrive unit.

so would that new CCC upgrade be a change to a newer module that is Bluetooth compatible? just curious, because mine is a pre-March/2004 build....

It may be the TCU unit (telecommunications unit) in the trunk that makes it compatible. Of course the other part that is required for BT is the v13.3 software in the idrive (CCC or M-ASK) and also to be set up for BT use.

No...Pre-March '04 production cars need more than just a software/ccc update...I have seen no definitive answer but so far, so suggestion has been made that pre March cars will ever be able to have Bluetooth.

thanks guys for replies!!
so if they DID change my "module" which might be the TCU itself, would I be falling into the same category of people whose cars are post-March 2004 where I need only software upgrade and wiring?
how can I confirm if they DID change the TCU and not any other module? thanks again guys!!

so would he need to just get software with BT update without having to change any TCU or new module?
