seeing other posts about 3g iphone not working on sync side and on power connection in the glove box.

sync side - seems to be same shxt show as iphone 2g. down to what software, tuc, year etc - too many variables to work out.

i have 05 plate 525, got software upgraded in apr 06 and can pair and sync fine with iphone, blackberry pearl etc. only issue is the bluetooth conflict with wifi (you have to turn wifi off to have conversation).

i also have the snap in (got part no from this forum) which is superb but seems to me the new iphone isnt massively different size (see below).

Has anyone tried to mash it in the slot? Think I will take my snap in to the o2 shop and see if can get it to fit.

Thx

Dimensions
2G: 115mm high, is 61mm wide and 11.6mm thick, weighs 135g.
3G: 115.5mm high, 62.1mm wide and 12.3mm thick, weighs 133g.

you could always dremil it like many people are with the docks from the v1 's .... since the v2's don't come with a dock.

The new 3G iPhone does work in the BMW iPhone Snap-In module and the phone is charged while installed. I tried my phone today and the fit is SNUG but width is not a problem. The only glitch is that if you push the 3G phone all the way into the holder so that the holder's retractable plastic lip (top edge of the phone) extends and holds the phone in place. If the phone is all the way in, when you try to EJECT the phone the retractable lip has to be manually pushed out of the way while you hold down the Eject button. My 3G phone charges while in the holder and has no pop-up messages when I connect it to the holder.

Does the cradle actually improve anybody's signal? It appears to have no effect on my 2G Iphone when observing the number of bars i get?

This was the point of me getting this cradle, it appears to only be a very expensive charger, which i could have achieved for 5% of the cost?

My advice to most people is only get the cradle if your phone has an external aerial jack on the outside of the phone. If it doesnt then the cradle simply 'attempts' to provide a inductive aerial connection which sounds more high tech than it is. In theory the cradle is also meant to provide you with a button to move the call between bluetooth and the handset itself but I've yet to see that work on any of the phones.

i found on holiday in france that in iffy signal areas i could get signal and make call in car when docked but not standing outside.

by way of update - v2.0 firmware on iphone 2g in my particular car - (05 plate 525 with media pack/sat nav, software updated jun 06) means i can no longer see the address book. not a big deal for me since my contacts had multiple number listings and idrive pretty pants at dealing with that.

still the upside means that i may as well upgrade to 3g and sell the 2g (and i see a healthy market for 2g phones now on ebay!).

Delete the phone profile from the car and re sync it. That seems to be working on the US cars with newer control units.
I will say that I have noticed worse 2g signal strength on both of my phones since the upgrade.
