Dension Gateway GW500

works for me? Try this one or google "Dension 500 Install" and select the dension .com website links
http://www.dension.com/en/downloads?...=Install+guide
its the MOST instruction in the link above you want...
the switches (referred to as dip switches in the link) are what you need to set on the Dension unit itself. its either push the dip switch up or down on the Dension
For text enabled (MP3 enabled in the main CD slot) BMWs, switches 1 = up and 2 = up, the rest = down.
For non text enables Switch 1 = down, 2 = Up and the rest = down
Try either one but they should give the same result in a non mp3 coded car i.e. Track 1, Track 2 etc.
Here is the install guide from Muttley (An excellent guide):

Do you have any BMW independents near you? enquire about coding mp3 / ipod functionality it will be cheaper then BMW dealership prices if you decide you want the text later.

Great! thanks for all of the information. I am really positive about the dension 500 now. I will probably place an order this week. One last question. Is there a compatible iphone/ipod Dock that fits into the cig tray?

I don't think so...but make one! Learn to get creative. I've done many creative projects. In my E46 I wanted Navigation and BMW navigation (well the older gen) leaves a lot to be desired! So I relocated the HVAC control and made an opening, cut the air duct and relocated the HVAC vent controller arm and installed this pioneer nav that cost $300 is Hard drive based, free to update and created a bezel to top it off. Looks very OEM!
In my E60 couldnt do all that so I stuck with the original Nav but I did create a customer enclosure from fiberglass. If you buy them they're $900 with a JL sub and not easy to find these days. Mine works better and is tuned to my speaker requirements.
