Just to clear things up:
with the used TCU, I can:
- I can pair the phones
- I can make calls over via the bluetooth carkit & use steering wheel functions

The issue I have:
- SOS not functioning
- cannot sync phonebook, SMS & BMW online do not work. Instead I get the message "insert sim"

I guess some reprogramming may be required...

I've purchased used TCU from Ebay. After programing everything works except SOS. SOS is attached to VIN number of the wehicle and can't work with used TCU.

Hello everybody,
I know it's old topic but I've got the same problem.
I have BMW e60 2005 with Motorola handset and i want to change this TCU (european version). So I've got some doubts.
1. Must it be a special model, or only with newer date? (i've got 2005) Because i found that
2. What are the chances that it'll work, because i dont wanna spend money for nothing. Is here anybody who did it with positive results too?
3. After that will I have to program it ?
4. And what about SOS error. Can it be fixed or just hidden?

Thanks for answers

1. Newer is better.
4. I don't have SOS error. It just not operational.
