Can't get a straight answer from my dealer on CPT install. My 545 is 01/04 production and I wanted to get the CPT9000 so that I could get the BT adapter. But now my SA is saying my make yr is not even compatible with the eject box.

There doesn't seem to be any hope to have any type of integrated phone BT or not with my car.

Any suggestions short of trading in for a newer model.

I'm pretty sure that the CPT-9000 phone was available on the E60 from the outset. There's clearly dealer confusion surronding these types of things but if I were you, I'd ask BMWNA if your car is capable of having the CPT-9000 installed.

Unfortunately, you may find that it will support it but it may be difficult to locate the parts, etc. except on the used market...

I see you are in So Cal. I had mine done, 09/03 production date, at Long Beach BMW some time ago. If you are close to Long Beach, give them a call. But like Rudy said, parts at this point might be difficult to locate.

Yes, it can be done. Mine's a January 2004 aswell and Bluetooth works great via the BTUM via the CPT9000 cradle.

My only problem is that everytime they do a software update it stops working. I've had to go back on 2 seperate occasions to have that fixed. The first time I didn't even realize it until I got home and had to re-schedule another appointment. The 2nd update, many months later, I had done to fix a NAV problem and I remembered this Bluetooth problem so I checked the phone before taking the car. The bluetooth paired fine so I thought it was OK, but I was wrong! It paired and thats all it did, so back to square one! So once again I had to re-schedule another appointment to have it fixed... I would much rather just get a new TCU but I don't think that's going to happen, they keep on fixing it somehow.

Oh well.. I don't expect to have anymore software updates anymore as everything is FINALLY running as it should be. With no more updates there should be no more TCU/Bluetooth problems and I'm happy!

Sorry for the rant...

My 04 545i (12/03 build) is at the dealership now. Been there a week and a day. The CPT9000 eject box and frame are available from the dealer. I bought them and installed them myself. Took the car to the dealer for the software recode that allows the TCU and idrive to recognize the eject box. The recode went well, but the software update which is forced by BMW has been driving them crazy. The dealership has filed PUMA's and is working with BMW trying to load the update. They have replaced my instrument cluster and are considering replacing the TCU. Since the car is under warranty, all I pay for is the recode. BTW, I purchased the BTUM from a BMW dealer on ebay. Paid $195 plus shipping. Your dealer is probably telling you that your car is incompatible because he realizes that the software update is a major PITA due to the lack of backward compatibility in the BMW software. Good luck.

Thanks everyone for all the feedback......I'm not that far from LB (in Simi Valley) I'll call around to dealers and see if I can locate equipment.

There may still be hope

Hi!!
Don't worry, I think your car works with CPT9000 and BTUM... mine is same production date, and it works like a charm... all you need to do is locate all those parts... maybe you can check eBay... good luck!!
