1.My car is build on 12/03
2.i do not have a BT option and no BT card came with the car.
3.i bought the car in 01/04, and never activate the BMW Assist until now.
4.i never update my software from the date i bought the car.

Yep, you guys are right. I got up to try this, and even though assist icon is now there (and 4 bars), when I dial that number it says the cellular customer was not available.
Oh Well. Now if I could just get the update services to connect to give me the traffic option!

I wanted to share my experience and tell you all what I know about this subject.
I have two cars, an E60 and a new X3 (my wife drives). There is a guy who got his phone in his X3 registered with Verizon, and it's true that you have to do this before you register with BMW Assist. I tried to do it after I turned on BMW Assist, and ATX (the comapny that administers BMW Asst) already had control of the ESN and Verizon cannot activate an ESN that already has a number attached to it.
What did happen, however, is that one night when I was complaining to an agent at ATX, they mistakenly gave me the number! Now mine has a 215 nunber and I live in Delaware (half hour south of Philly), so I'm not sure if the area code is based on where the car is delivered or not. I can receive calls in the car with no problem. ATX called me the next day to tell me they should not have given me the number, and to never give it to anyone.
Lastly, you can prove to yourself that the phone is operational by dialing *611 from the I-drive menu. It will connect to Verizon customer service. The TCU is a Sony-Ericsson CM42 and fully capable of functioning as a stand-alone unit (despite what ATX and BMWNA might tell you.
Now, I've unburdened myself. Who can tell me something about the traffic feature? I saw a video for this feature on the new Acura RL nd I want it for my E60!!!

Car not wired but phone rang? I think this can only happen in Area 51 in Arizona where UFO sightings are common.
But this can happen to a singaporean E60 too!
