Research in Motion may be embroiled in a patent-infringement lawsuit over its popular BlackBerry products at the moment, but that's not stopping BMW from putting BlackBerry address book integration into its vehicles, making it possible to make cellphone calls via hands-free or on-board controls.
The innovation will be limited to 2006 Canadian BMW models produced September 2005 and forward, which will not be affected by the outcome of the lawsuit because Canada (where RIM is based) is outside the jurisdiction of the suit. The BMW-compatible unit is RIM's BlackBerry 8700 series.

The 8700 works with US versions already without problems as reported in many forums, it is not unique to Canada. the support is coming to older rim phones soon...
