No. It won't. Only voice connectivity. If you want music playback, you'll need a whole new interface. Dension is a good place to start.

Used to live in jersy. Now I live in el paso, texas. Is there anything cheaper to play music through your phone in the car without bluetooth? Anything in the 100$ range?

retrofit an AUX input. you can buy the kit from BMW for less than $100, or build your own wiring for about $8. a retrofit will require coding, so you'll need to find someone capable of coding it for you or have the dealer do it.

If you don't already have an aux input, do that. Then pick up one of these on ebay for $6. Plug it into a micro usb charger in the cig lighter. Done.

Then of course you can hack it all up to hide it in the center console.

Could you explain what that is and what it does?

It's a bluetooth audio dongle. Take the cap off and it has a USB plug. You can plug that into a usb charger. I prefer the smaller ones like this:

That circular hole is for a standard 3.5mm audio cable which you run from that to the aux in hole in the car.

Of course, you must pair your audio device(phone) to the bluetooth dongle. There is usually no passcode and you only have to pair it once as the connection is remembered.

Then in IDrive, you select auxillary input and you do any and all controls on the phone. If you have a decent phone mount, it's easy, safe and legal to control.

But in order to this you must have it coded in idrive first right? How much does the coding cost?
Also what would sound better the aux or using this Bluetooth dongle?
