I got the car 1,5 months ago, and noticed that this "lite" version of voice recognition is in German. I asked my dealer to clarify how it could be changed to English.

Later I took the car in for one day, result was that they couldn't do anything about it. They promised to ask more information and call me back. Sofar, no call.

2 weeks ago, I called BMW Finland and asked why don't they give the info to my dealer to have this fixed. They told me that as far as they know, the language, if any else than German was wanted, should have mentioned when the car was ordered, and it may be impossible to have it changed afterwards!! (No one asked anything about languages when I ordered my car). They promised to get more info from BMW AG tho, and call me back. Again, no call sofar. I find it very difficult to believe that the installed language is permanent, after all it's just piece of software, isn't it....

This issue has been touched in some earlier topics, and I understood this is a known problem.

My question is: Has anyone had the language changed, and if, what kind of procedure it was. If the answer is positive like i think, I'd like to show it to both my dealer and importer.

Thanks a lot in advance, Kari

Karifi, do you only have BT voice recognition? Not the normal voice recognition?? Because I don't have it with my car and want it. I've asked my dealer about this before and they told me it isn't possible because I have a dutch car. Strangely a guy from this forum lives in the Westland has his car serviced at my dealer and he does have the voice recognition (In german).

That's me!

I have voice recognition (lite) in German. Dealer told me it couldnot be changed to English. They asked their head office. No answer, no explanation.

I'm improving my German language now......

Interesting. I ordered Voice Recognition too, but it hasn't worked yet. Dealer claims that he has to wait for BMW Germany to include that option on the software they receive...

Are You realy sure that You can use Voice Recognition together with Bluetooth Mobile Telephone ?? I would like that option ...

Yes. Didn't know it was included in Bluetooth option when I ordered it, but because it was, I would like to use it also and it's a little bit hard in German for me.

Yes. This feature (VR of BT) has a manual also, but it lists and explains the orders given in English only, not in German.

Still missing the advice that someone has been able to change the language....

Hi,

When I ordered my car in april, my dealer forgot to specify the language to english. When my car arrived, voice recognition was working but in the german language

Last week, they did a software upgrade (from ??? to 13.23) and they had my voice recognition language changed from german to english.
Conclusion: it is possible, but I have to check with my dealer if it was included in the 'normal' I-drive software update or they had to install an extra software-package (it was a software change, no hardware that I am pretty sure about)

Hi dvw, if you can send me the name of your dealer, it's enough for me. My dealer can contact yours. I would really like to have this option in English.

Thanks!
