I was wondereing if the voice on my hands free can be changed and if so how, i know some have a women i have a man but i do not have Nav.

 

What voice are you referring to? The voice that repeats directory entries in your bluetooth phone book or something else? If you're talking about the phone entry voice, I don't think it's changeable since it's not recorded by a real person like the other voices...

 

Yeah Rhudy i was talking about the one that speaks and gives you help when you push the voice button on the Steering wheel it is currently a male voice would love to change to a female also why wont it dial from the name function of the phone book with the book visable i can highlight and dial but cant dial with voice name as it says the phone book is empty and that is with my Verizon razor or my motorola v710 both
sync and display the phone book but wont dial by name

 

I wouldn't change mine; it doesn't speak English well at all, and I insult it until it tells me "Voice Entry Ended." I wouldn't say the same things to a female voice.

 

I think I understand what you mean now -- I'm not aware of the ability for you to change the voice gender from the default that comes with the car. BMW uses different voices/genders for different countries and I'm fairly sure you don't have a choice in what you end up with. (Click here for more information about the voices used.) I remember on my E39, a technician who was updating my nav software asked me if I prefer the male or female voice but on the E60, I don't remember seeing or hearing anything about this sort of option.

As far as your issue with the phonebook, what version of software are you running right now? I remember that feature changed dramatically (from the older, "save name" functionality to the newer, automatic name recognition functionality) but I also remember that it may be a nav/no nav thing.

Anyone else out there remember better than me?
