I just spoke to a rep at BMW NA and he told me that bluetooth is not an available option for MY2005 cars as of yet. It may be available and later as a retrofit for MY2004 but there is no scheduled date as of yet. What really pisses me off is that they give conflicting answers every time I ask them. What the hell is the problem?

I feel your pain .... I have been waiting and waiting for an answer to this question. I can't belive that BMW NA has taken so long to resolve this issue. The problem was clearly identified in December !! For a feature that is supposed to be in the car, a feature that I payed for. They are taking way to long to fix.
Can you say class action ????

I have a history of taking BMW to task for features promised but not available at rollout (just ask DAS !!!), but I dont recall any promises made by BMW regarding bluetooth (at least here in the USA).

If you have documentation to the contrary, please share it with me as I too am looking forward to "potential" bluetooth functionality in my 2004 E60.

Otherwise, "class action" lawsuits and the like are rather empty notions, and like it or not we will have to be patient.

I believe BMW will have to get moving for several reasons. Their CPT9000 phone based on the repackaged Motorola v60 is out of production and soon to receieve little support. In fact ATT wireless has pulled ALL v60 phones from its lineup and is phasing out most all of their TDMA phones. The new v600 bluetooth enabled GSM phone wont fit in the v60/CPT9000 cradle as well.

BMW customers will insist on handsfree cellphone capability and BMW might as well perfect Bluetooth in the e60 and kill 2 birds with 1 stone.

Giz, I think I do have documentation. Unfortunatly the car is in the shop, and I can't scan it for ya. hope to be able too tomorrow. Mine was one of the first 545's delivered here in So Cal , a Sept. build. I don't think BMW NA corrected the window sticker information to exclude bluetooth. I know this issue was talked about when I bought the car. I will follow up. But I have to tell you, everytime I think about this issue it makes me spitting mad!

Re documentation - look in your manual folder for the card/sticker with the useless Bluetooth Passkey Code.

I saw a posting on another board that BMW has no plans for a Bluetooth retro kit for MY 2004. Spitting mad!

Well, since BMW has the BT functionality working in the 5er in every market except the USA, that that card was in there is not really surprising. Note that the same text is written in all the major European languages. My guess is that that card comes with every E60 that's built.

It's like a manufacturer of home theater gear that might include a network card in a new device for "future expansion." That network card will have a MAC address assigned to it by the card's manufacturer, but the card may never be used by the company assembling the device.

All we as customers can be sure of is what's printed on the Monroney Sticker. Nothing in the product brochure or owner's manual suggests in any way that MY2004 E60's sold in the US have (or will ever have) Bluetooth support.

I don't know how much I would place on what a BMWNA rep says on the phone until we see someone actually try bluetooth on a MY05 model. Last year while I was waiting for my M3 to arrive I was told "definitively" several options that the M3 would/would not have while my car was at VPC. Lo and behold they were completely wrong. The rep had put me on hold and spoked to their M3 specialist and came back about 10 minutes later with all the answers. Answers which in the end which were incorrect.

I spoke to BMWNA last week and they assured me the BT was now coming standard. So I really hope my rep was right and yours is wrong.

On http://www.bimmerfest.com/forums/showthread.php?t=72726 they have the following picture on a thread purporting to show a BT / BMW Assist module.
