Bluetooth tetrofit

I see that our US members are getting bluetooth. Are US cars already prewired for it from the factory? So is it an easy retrofit installation?
Also i have done a search which mentions i need option 640. But im pretty POSITIVE that this option was not available in the UK. It might be standard. Im not sure.

What did you have to do to get it activated? I have heard that its to be wired up to everything which makes it quite costly. But a few months ago i enquired about it to another BMW delaer who said that cars built after July 04 (like Mine) only takes 4 hrs for a retrofit instead of 9.
