I believe you will need a March 2004 or newer TCU for Bluetooth capabilities.

No. The European TCUs had a GSM based cellular system, while ours in the US had a CDMA based phone. I learned from a friend at Continental that if the TCU card has numbers next to 'PK:' then bluetooth can be enabled on it.

Interesting, so if the TCU's part number indicates the unit as Euro spec but has a number next to 'PK', then would BT work in US?

haha, I have no idea whether they would be able to activate it. I am very sure the SOS system would not work, but no idea about BT.

It seems like they can't even code it. The TCU's are coded for region - programming is halted with an invalid module warning. No way around it apparently.

Man I was hoping it would work for you advancedlogic, I was getting all excited that you can code the TCU but guess not then.

I had the same question and problem, i went to local BMW stealership and had them check my car out. They said and i quote, "Because your car was built before March of 2004 (built 09/2003) you need a new TCU which will run you about $500.00 and then you need to program the software which will cost another $200.00. So with that said i asked my self, do i really want to pay $700.00 for BT? And the answer was............. NO! I rather use that money towards other mods. But if you really want the BT then by all means buddy, spend the loot cause i fell in love with the BT when i had a loaner.
