Anyone know when BMW plan to produce a snap in adapter for Nokia handsets? Currently they are on available for the Seimans phone.

You may want to look at this link http://www.bmw.co.uk/apm/corporate/news_in...14877__,00.html

It says there won't be a snap-in adapter for the 6310i now, which is a pain as I have just upgraded ready for the arrival of my car in Mid November

Thanks had just spotted that yesterday, but I have received e mail from BMW GB confirm availabilty from Jan 04 text follows...

Thank you for your recent email requesting information on the avaliability
of the Snap in Adapter for the Nokia 6310.

I can confirm that we are expecting this adapter to be avaliable from
January 2004. Please accept my apologies for the inconvience this matter has
caused, and seek to assure you that this is not typical of the normal high
levels of support from BMW.

I hope this information is of some assistance.

Kind regards

Bmw Customer Services have now come back to me, and said

There have been a number of issues with the integration of the Nokia 6310 cradle for the Bluetooth Kit. There will be a retro fit cradle available in the first quarter of 2004, that will simply plug into the centre armrest and the pricing for this will be available to dealerships soon.

Bad news for BT in the US. Quoting from topic on Roadfly Bluetooth US Availability

The bluetooth option (#644 at purchase) is scheduled for availability in Europe in late 2003 but will not make it to the US until fall 2004. The reason for the delay in the US is incompatibility between BMW Assist (SOS feature and download of service data to BMW) feature which is standard in the US and the bluetooth car kit. BMW is aware of the issue and committed to resolving it (they claim that cars produced after Sept 2004 will be bluetooth/BMW Assist compatible.

The question is what about those cars produced before 9/04. BMWNA doesn't know yet if a retrofit kit will be made available.

The bluetooth kit is composed of 2 parts. The bluetooth interface (this is a small box that connects to the cars pre-wiring and data systems so you can control the phone via Idrive/steering wheel...) and a craddle that provides charging power to your phone and antenna signal).

The kit will provide full support a limited number of phones (including SonyEricsson T610, Siemens S55 and Nokia 6310) and limited support (no craddle) to older phones (SonyEricsson T68 and Nokia 8910).
