Yes, finally I got a phone with features of the latest moment, working with bluetooth and fully integrated with 5 series.
I have tested it during the last 4 days and everything is working properly, so definetely the phone is a good deal for E60/61 owners.
Snap-in adapter also available: code 84 21 039 2 326 (64,74 euro + taxes)
and already mounted (it was the first one coming from BMW to the dealer).
Pics available soon.
You need to copy your contacts also in the SIM, so you will get automatically downloaded the phone list on the idrive panel under "communication" menu.
I bought the USB data cable (39 euro) to update the firmware of the S65 (from version 16 to v.25), but I am sure it was't necessary because the phone paired immediately with the car since the first moment and with the old firmware installed.
I suggest to test it as I did, before buying, because I don't know if the software vesion of the car is a mandatory issue to get the bluetooth system working (mine is E61 MY2005 and I guess software version should be 13.3...never checked so far).
It looks nice inside the front arm-rest of the car (pics folllowing soon) and also now I have a 1.3 megapixel camera on board (...you never know!).
Hope the above lines will help BMW owners to make up thier mind abuot bluetooth and related phones.

SMS through iDrive will not work with the Siemens S55 - or any other phone, except for the BMW Professional mobile AFAIK...

I noticed a new feature with after the latest software update.. if a call is missed, a cellphone icon will pop up next to the icon telling if there is a signal or not. Kinda useful instead of checking the missed calls list on iDrive or opening up the center armrest.

Hi skorpyo25

Thanks for this, I'm also using a Siemens S65, in fact I just changed to this phone as I was told by the local BMW dealer here that it should work.

Any other issues, like if you're making a call and after 5 rings no one picks up, the call is automatically dropped. I read elsewhere in this forum that this happends on other phones eg. SE T610 etc.

How about voice quality for the receiving party? any complaints of softness etc like some other folks have been experiencing?

I've not yet decided if I should go for the retrofit, the folks here want to charge $2200 Singapore dollars (about US$1300) for it. I'm not sure what has to be done for the retrofit on my car since it is a March 04 build. Still trying to decide if the money is worth spending.

thanks again.

@eggz
you are welcome
I made enough calls to say that the voice is clear (muting is automatic) and loud.
Honestly I wasn't expecting anything better than what I got with this phone.

Ok, today I tried the SMS feature with the phone: no way, it doesn't work.
That is for sure because during the test I was with the chief of the electronic maintenance branch of the dealer where I bought the car. He tried the same test using his nokia 6310 (well known to be the most compatible with BMW software and bluetooth): same result no SMS is popping up on the screen.
He explained me that SMS capability was a normal function in the E39, where on the right of the Bluetooth simbol a small envelope appears when a SMS has to be read.
I'm sorry the phone can't do it....I was so enthusiastic....

My dealer said me that SMS is not available with any Bluetooth (option 644) phone, it is available only with other fixed installation of GSM (option 638).
Will it be true ?
