I retro'ed BT in my 2001 740i. I think you'll find that most of the wiring is already in the car. If you have voice activation for NAV or iDrive functions the Microphone is there too. On the 740i the only additional fitment was the BT antennae and that was an easy task to snake the wiring thru the trunk to the rear panel next to the rear window ... the TCU for the hard-wired BMW phone was swapped out with the BT TCU. Because the electronics were early state no additional reprogramming was required.

See if info here can help you ... http://www.bimmernav.com/BMW_Bluetotoh_Ret...nformation.html

Hi all,

I had my sat nav retrofittted and the CCC comes with Bluetooth program and since my car is already prewired ( Overhead mic, FAKRA connector under the armrest and also the bunch of wires at the back of the trunk), I decided to give it a try.

So I bought a TCU with PK on it (2007) from a forum member over here and also a bluetooth antenna from EBAY and connected them up just a while ago.

At the Idrive page where I need to check the " Bluetooth Communication active" it doesn't check it.

Am I missing any other hardware?

Thanks in advance!

You still might need idrive programming from the dealer to "activate" the BT feature. GL

Hey mate, nice to hear from you again.

So its confirmed that those are the 2 things needed. But why is there a need to reprogram when the Idrive already shows it? I thought programming is only required when the function does not show in Idrive?

=)
