hello everyone,

I've just ordered a MULTI-TOOTH unit from http://www.handsfreedirect.com/multitooth.html .

Seems like an ideal solution for bluetooth retrofitting. The antenna can be mounted closer to the driver, plus when there is noise or desire for privacy, you can use the always charged headset. I've never seen this mentioned here before, and came across the unit by pure chance as a similar item for the Parrot Driveblue which I found entirely unsatisfactory.

I will share my experiences when I receive the unit. Other than having the unit stick out like that, seems like the simplest, best way to retrofit bluetooth. plus, you can take it anywhere. you can continue your conversations on the headset.

cheers.

Thank you for sharing your idea with us. This approach does not take advantage of the capability of the car to load your phonebook into I-drive which is a wonderful feature.

Wassy tried another similar product with a visor mounted speakerphone. He posted that the results were not satisfactory and sent it back.

Anyway, good luck and let us know what you think of this approach.

well, I've now used multi-tooth for two weeks, and have to say I am very pleased. sound quality is quite acceptable, and the voice dialing works even at 85 mph on the NJ turnpike. My favorite feature is being able to quickly switch between speaker phone and headset as the conditions require. The speaker phone is loud, if not always clear (dependent on cell phone signal, of course). The visor mounted wireless microphone seems to work fine. On the other end, my wife can hear me clearly, but can also easily tell that I'm on speaker phone. With the headset, though, it's just like using any other bluetooth headset - pretty good. Of course, no SMS messages on the readout - if that works, and also no phone book. But my most frequently dialed numbers are on voice input, and I can also do voice dial, so that takes care of most of my needs.

All in all, very pleased with the multi-tooth. For those of you who can't wait for integrated bluetooth, I highly recommend the multi-tooth. It's best simply because it gives you both speaker phone and headset. If you think why not just get a headset, well, the nice thing is that this headset is always charged, ready to go. I had a sony HBH-30 for one year, and it was fine, but turning it on and off, charging, all that were real hassles. In fact, annoying. So if you want to get a headset, at least get one which is always charged and ready - like the multi-tooth.

cheers!
