Is anyone who has a blouetooth in their 5 series with Verizon experiences callers not hearing well or not hearing at all? Every Time i talk to someone when driving, I hear them perfectly fine but can never hear me.
Is there a setting or anything else that i should adjust?
This is a nightmare.

I get complaints that people can't hear me well on the other end - like I'm under water. I'm waiting till 16.2 software hits the dealer to upgrade and post this complaint.

I think that all of us with Verizon and the 710 have the same problem.

Please read my message below "Bluetooth Best Phone/Best Carrier".

Try any carrier who doesn't use CDMA (I believe Verizon & Sprint both do)
Bmw lists phone which have been confirmed to work on their website;
cingular has 7 phones, T-Mobile has 4, Sprint has 1, and Verizon 1.

The GMA standard used by Cingular and perhaps T-Mobile is tecnically superior
to CDMA. Perhaps the problem was the V710 phone, but I really doubt it .. it is a very nice phone, but it doesn't work well with the e60.

Do what I did and try a Motorola V551 (I think about $100 after rebate)
and a Motorola Razr V3 (about $350). The salesman says the V551 has the same guts as the V3. My salesman took the time to link each phone to the car, and we called his phone in the store. The sound still has the effect of a speakerphone, but with much less distortion. I used my wife as the test...

If I couldn't do better than the V710/Verizon combo I would have just
decided to use a handheld not linked into the I-Drive

I wish this post had been up last night, I just spent about 2.5 hours today at Cingular confirming that the Moto razr V3 and V551 works, and another 30 minutes at Verizon returning the V710.

I'm much happier now...

There have been many posts on this but I will sum up. GSM is Cingular's (and others) protocol and it is in fact inferior to CDMA. Don't believe me? - ask Consumer Reports and many other surveys of coverage. It is not just coverage in number of towers and location. CDMA switches between towers more efficiently and has less dropped calls. GSM is a much more common standard worldwide and thus there are far more phones (and better). GSM also uses less battery life (if you hold other things equal) and thus works better with the power draining bluetooth.

I have used v505 and v551 (as I was trialing ATT and Cingular before Verizon fixed things) and currently have the v710. It is slightly worse but only slightly. There are numerous quality control issues with the v710. I suspect there are phones that don't work as well. I returned 2 v710s before I got one that worked right.
