My Ride: MY2005 545i SMG/Sport Pkg., Silver Gray, Gray Leather w/ Anthracite, NAV, Premium Sound, Cold Weather Pkg., Active Cruise, SunShades, Sat Radio
Thumbs up

Dealer advises that BT functionality will be available at no cost as part of I-Drive for MY05 vehicles. However, he has not provided any documentation as such. Anyone to confirm or deny this??

I just spoke with BMWNA and they assure me that bluetooth will not be available for '04 E60s - retrofit or otherwise. They weren't capable of explaining why not. Basically told that cradle with cpt 9000 is only option for integrated phone. No other phones to be supported via cradle other than the discontinued and by now quite dated cpt9000 (motorola v60). No plans to support any third party bluetooth kits (like motorola's car kit or the new nokia 610 car kit) to allow auto muting of radio etc....Basically '04 owners must pony up $800+ for the cpt9000 or make do with a bluetooth phone with headset or kit that does not integrate into idrive/radio control etc.

I suspect that this is true, as I have heard of MY2005 E63 in the U.S. market with Bluetooth, so why not the E60, too? (Don't hit me, but I'm an E63 owner, and since we have so much in common, I enjoy contributing and reading on this BB, too).

BYW, other countries have had BT functioning in their E60s in MY2004 - it's only in the US market where we suffer from the conflict between BMW Assist and Bluetooth. Since BMW Assist was standard, BT got axed ... until MY2005, when the integrated ECU came out that provides both BMW Assist and BT.

I suspect that what you're actually interested in is whether BT is available in the U.S. market. Yes, it apears so.

Does this means that those E60 in Germany cannot have BT either? am I right, ICEMAN?
