Dealer advises that BT functionality will be available at no cost as part of I-Drive for MY05 vehicles. However, he has not provided any documentation as such. Anyone to confirm or deny this??

I suspect that this is true, as I have heard of MY2005 E63 in the U.S. market with Bluetooth, so why not the E60, too? (Don't hit me, but I'm an E63 owner, and since we have so much in common, I enjoy contributing and reading on this BB, too).
BYW, other countries have had BT functioning in their E60s in MY2004 - it's only in the US market where we suffer from the conflict between BMW Assist and Bluetooth. Since BMW Assist was standard, BT got axed ... until MY2005, when the integrated ECU came out that provides both BMW Assist and BT.
I suspect that what you're actually interested in is whether BT is available in the U.S. market. Yes, it apears so.

Hi,
I have retrofitted Bluetooth and it works wonderful (besid the small problem that I can't receive SMS while connected).
