OK. I need some help. I have a 04 525 build date 10/03. I understand if I have BMW retro fit my car with bluetooth I will own them my next born child so that is out of the question. What after market options do I have? Also it has to be something that I can install myself (I do know how to turn a screwdriver). I'm in Germany and the dollar is doing real bad right now so paying someone would be just as expensive. I want to use the steering wheel function. Also my car does have a mic installed so is there a system that I can use that will utilize the mic.

yours does need the controller in the trunk (forgot the name) but mine should just need an update no? it states " I 03-05-0500 " in the "secret screen" and the 1st line in there says 5.28.06

read number 3 under INFORMATION. from what i read it is a simple software update for this to be activated. my car is 8/04 production date. my service manager told me i need a module and something else. what i want to know is why i would need the module if i don't want to plug in my phone to the cradle (the module is the cradle right and is this needed?) i was quoted $700+ for this and i have searched all over and have seen dealers selling them for like $250. wouldn't the software update activate this and no module needed? i do not have a motorola phone.
