Any help on the following would be greatly appreciated,
2004 E63 with Built in phone in the arm rest. Can this be connected to another phone using bluetooth, or am I stuck with getting another sim card and putting it in the car and switching off my mob when I am getting in the car?
I have tried the suggestions on the other posts of how to pair it. I have bluetooth on(car), i can get to the connect phone here page(IDRIVE), I try to find the car bluethooth signal using my Nokia 6310i, it comes up that it cant find any signal.
On the Conect Phone here page( I Drive) It has the car handset(in the arm rest) up on it and shows it it connnected by bluetooth and works
Thanks,
JOE

I have never heard of anyone having a wired phone and a Bluetooth one at the same time. Is that what you mean?
Wnrussell, never come across this before myself,
It is a BMW phone that has a cradle in the arm rest and connects to the car through bluetooth(its not attached to the car by wire when you plug it out). In the arm rest there is also a slot for a sim.
Its crazy if you cant connect another mobile to the car.
Thanks,
Joe

Hi
If you are referring to the BMW professional phone installation that comes in the E63/E64 you are stuck with using another SIM card with that phone. You won't be able to use another bluetooth phone in your car.
You will find that you can pair a normal bluetooth phone with the car but that the paired phone will not work.

My car had the professional phone option originally when it was specced, which is a GSM phone connectd, with the handset connected by a propritory bluetooth connection to the telephone module.
It's fairly easy to upgrade to a normal bluetooth solution which is what I've done.
All you need is a ULF module for the boot, and a replacement snapin holder to go where the existing phone is.
You also need to get the car recoded. I got the ULF from Martin at www.bimmernav.com ?400ish, and a recode at my local dealer ?200ish.
One thing worth mentioning though, while you can replace the centre console cradle etc yourself, the existing control unit in the boot needs to be in place while they do the retrofit coding.

Thanks sos,
Did you install the ULF yourself?
Do you have to take out the existing phone or can you leave it there? (I know it wont work)
Why is there a need for a recoding? is this just an upgrade of the Idrive system and does yours now play MP3 cds?
What is this BMW Assist thing that will be disabled?
thanks,
Joe

It needs a recode as the car needs to told it now has a bluetooth module in place. If you don't, it just doesn't work, as the car doesn't know what it is.
Yes, I'm running v.23 and it plays MP3's.
The existing phone comes out, as that's where you fit the bluetooth snap-in holder.
Do you have BMW assist? In the UK, there's just an SOS button, which gets sorted with the recode.
