Seems odd.
figured it out - it's grayed out if there're any waits or pauses in the number. straight numbers are fine, but 5551212w123 gives grayed out dial option in iDrive.
You should need to press the accept or reject button. Check your settings on the phone. I think under car settings or handsfree you have auto answer set to on. Turn it off and try again. The 4th ring problem is why I started this thread. No resolution AFAIK.

Thanks for the tip on auto answer. It worked! Don't know what AFAIK means, but is there anything we can do to get someone working on the 4th ring problem?
I get to answering machines but that's because the places I call have the answering machine pick up after four rings. Someone should fix that, it should be toggleable or something.
No call waiting is annoying from the wheel is annoying, but then this was a limitation with the CPT8000 system as well. You can use your handset directly to switch over in the meantime. This is especially useful during hairpin turns.
The biggest annoyance for me is not being able to distinguish multiple numbers under the same name using voice. There's a workaround that doesn't involve changing the text string in your address book, but it would be better if the display actually showed you which were home, office, whatever. I don't actually know for most of them and have to guess which number I want. Of course, I suppose if that were the case then they'd just do the voice command correctly.
BTW, I think there's a feature I don't like: I have the same phone number under both my name and the name "home". It only shows up under home. I think it gets rid of duplicate numbers or something.
Having said all that, I am amazingly happy with this system especially the quality of voice and the who magical connection thing. It's great.
Peace.
