Own a 2004 525 built in Jan 2004, the dealer tells me I cannot use bluetooth because of the January production date. BMW USA says they know of the issue but no fix is available at this point. Has anyone had similar issues, or know of a fix? The car came with a bluetooth ID and materials which is confusing.

Welcome aboard Ryan.
You're in the same boat as I was. You will likely need to replace the TCU and have the software updated to get BT to work. No other solution at this time.
Cost has varied between $1500 and $2200 US so far.
But, when BT works, it is one sweet set up.
