Blue tooth option for my 2004 545i

My Ride: 545i
mine was built in October 2003, I tried to configure the phone options in iDrive and it said to contact BMW, when i did, they said it will cost $3,000CAD minimum to add the blue tooth option to my 2004 545i...yikes!!!
The SA then said to get after market TCU's installed and they will have up to date iDrive software as well for way cheaper.
What are your experiences?

The advice you received is correct. You require a new TCU given the build date.
Aftermarket is the way to go if at all possible. You will also require several hours of programming after the TCU is installed so it will not be cheap.
