BLACKBERRY PERAL (VERIZON) BLUETOOTH

Since the enactment of the Ca. Bluetooth laws, I wanted to pair my '07 525i & my BB Pearl (verizon) I was told today they are not COMPATIBLE? Had no idea nor did I know there was a list of compatible & non-compatible phones. Silly me; I thought all bluetooth things were compatible. Any Techie out there know more than the Customer Service rep did and can navigate me around this?
