Sorry if this is a repeat topic. I did a search and didnt find this topic.

I know the 8700c will go into a sleep mode to save the battery; when it is placed in the holster, facing IN. But should it go into a sleep mode when its placed in the holster, facing OUT?

Its prob designed to face IN, to save the screen from scratches...But I like it facing out so I can glance down to see if anything has been sent to me. I dont think anything is wrong w/ the phone, b/c when its not int he holster it goes to sleep in 10 sec.

Any feedback is appreciated.

The sleep mode is activated by a magnet in the holster. If it's going to sleep facing in or out, then the phone is picking up the magnetic field. Since it's not very easy to see the phone while wearing the holster on your belt, why not just pop the phone out of the holster, glance at your screen (which will be active right away) and pop it back in the holster when you're done? That's kind of what BB had in mind when they designed it and it works perfectly.

Aside from screen scratches, one other drawback to the phone being in the holster face out is that the holster itself will case some minor cosmetic damage to the keys in the corners since it makes contact with them.

My advice is to simply put the phone in the holster facing in and learn to just pop it in and out as needed. I do it a thousand times a day and there's no problem at all...
