Hi All - searching brought up so many hits I thought it might be quicker to just ask - I have an '05 545 with the 6 cd unit in the glove compartment - what would be the best way to allow my ipod to play through the radio - currently I use an FM transmitter, which is passable - but not more than passable - thanks in advance for any suggestions - ed.

The only option would be the BMW iPod interface provided it works on older 5ers.

The BMW iPod interface could well be your answer. I had one put into my 530d (manufacture date 13-Oct-2005) and it works fine (barring the known limitations of the system). There are quite a number of threads here on the iPod connector and the promised Dension one too, so do a search on 'em and you'll get a wealth of information there. You will lose the use of the 6-CD unit though.

I used an FM transmitter in the past, and it was a disaster ... too many little radio staions all over the place interefering with it.
