You sure you're in Drive and not Reverse?

Perhaps your car is upside down?

Or inside out?

Come again? Let's say you have it on "map facing north". Does it always show your correct position? It would therefore know you are traveling south if in fact you are. If a dest is programmed, does it show the correct white line from where you are to where you want to be?

Note in "map - direction of travel" or "perspective", the map may look upside down when traveling south.

Also a thought. Are you confused over the little arrow in the corner of the display? It does not point to north. Rather it points to your destination from your perspective. IE if a dest is south of you and you are driving south, the arrow points straight up. If you then need to make a left turn once you reach far enough south, the arrow points left.
I'm aware of the different perspectives. I've had the car long enough and know how the NAV works. when i put in an address and let's say it's a straight line with the destination ahead of me if i drive towards the straight line the NAV displays that I am actually driving away from it.

Sounds like you need a trip to the dealer to figure out the problem.

I wasn't thinking/saying you didn't know how nav worked, just thinking that some setting has it/you confused.

For example, say you are on Main street at 2nd. You program a dest of Main street at 4th and start driving towards it. Are you saying, the nav shows you are actually getting further from the dest, heading towards 1st street? If so, that's very odd, the GPS would be totally off base if so.

Maybe I'm confused.

It's a long shot but before going to the dealer, read the following post and the post it links to:
